Asymmetrical Digital Subscriber Line - ADSL is a form of DSL, a data communications technology that enables faster data transmission over copper telephone lines than a conventional modem can provide.

This ADSL excludes expensive International bandwidth but still allows access to local content such as email etc. but offers no international web browsing and is ideal for Vox voice products i.e. for calls only.

3. What is Shaped International?

Shaped - Telkom "shape" the ports to throttle downloads, peer to peer traffic and other bandwidth intensive applications which enable them to share the solution with more users. Shaped International is the most commonly used and cost effective ADSL option.

4. What is Unshaped International?

Unshaped International has no port shaping restrictions applied - enabling FASTER DOWNLOAD times. The solution is shared with less people.

5. What is a Gigabyte?

A Gigabyte (GB) is a measure of computer data or digital information storage capacity and is "roughly" a billion bytes. A Gigabyte equates to about 350 mp3 songs.

6. What is Uncapped?

Uncapped is unlimited capacity, a user may surf the Internet and download unlimited content for a fixed monthly fee. The uncapped solutions may be severely shaped, and the speed is determined by the number of users downloading at the same time. Vox Uncapped solutions are recommended for Vox Voice products. We cannot, however, make the same guaranteefor Uncapped solutions from other Service Providers.

7. How good are the Vox Telepreneur Offerings?

The Vox ADSL offerings all adhere to minimum quality standards and is a superior service. The International component is accessed via Fibre on SAT3 up the West Coast of Africa which has redundancy via the SAFE cable up the East Coast of Africa.

8. What will I pay for every month after I sign up for ADSL from Vox?

Line rental from Telkom - R131 p/m. This is the traditional analogue telephone land line. You require this before you can apply for an ADSL line

ADSL Subscriber Line - between R152 and R413 p/m depending on the line size chosen

Monthly usage - after your free access of 2 GBs, additional GBs will cost you between R15 and R79 each depending on the type of access you have chosen

9. What do I need to have in order to make use of the Vox ADSL bundles?

This indicates the number of kilobits that can be downloaded per second ? this means that the 384kbps line is slower than the 4Mbps line

13. What is Vox voice-friendly uncapped ADSL?

With Vox voice-friendly uncapped, a portion of the available line space is reserved for voice calls. This means that the quality of the transmission for voice is better than with the standard uncapped ADSL, BUT not as good as calls made with shaped bandwidth options

14. Can I surf the Internet using my ADSL and make calls on my Vox Supafone at the same time?

YES, you can, with no interruption or loss of quality and speed to either!
